Punta Gorda is not bad, about 2 hrs south of tampa. The beaches of Sanibel and Marco Island are pretty and fun. If your looking for an adventure its prolly another hour or so into alligator alley and you can catch airboat tours of the everglades. Decent shopping south towards Naples. Not really a big happening kind of place, but lots of stuff around it, and all those coastal communities tend to be really laid back and relaxed. There is an overabundance of retirees and golf. But the weather is beautiful right now... we hit the hi 70's low 80's today and I'm sure the ride into work this morning was in the 60's
yeah we are looking at may..which is offseason..and really as long as i have a nice beach to sit on and read...and water...I'm happy. i want to just be away and not be in a bustling area.
will you and joy be able to make and teach at battle cry? btw...check www.skybus.com itflies right to us..and is cheap . we can arrange any rides and stuff ya might need here. dates are aug 29th-sept 1st.
Haven't been to those areas, mostly been up in the panhandle and way down by key west.
Panhandle area - Pensacola beaches are pretty nice. Destin(where Randy's parents live)... the beaches there are to die for. Clear turquoise green, you can see all the way to the bottom during the summer, lots of dolphins, and around 75 degrees (to my 55 degree pacific ocean, that's bath water right there!). The area is really cute and some fun stuff to look at... (and only about two hours away from Melinda and Seth, heheheh)
Key west - I'd say that's more of an adult area. Every other place is a bar. The beaches were okay(compared to Destin, heheh, otherwise, not too shabby at all!), I liked the drive down there the most. Some cute little touristy places to see. Also really close to Miami area. Big bustling city, if that's what you're wanting, then Miami is the place to go.
I just arrrived! I think there is a lot to do in Sarasota, if you like relaxing, shopping, or visiting museums, it's the cultural hotspot (or so I've been told) in FL. It's about an hour south of Tampa.
