Unblocking the block..

Can any author out there give me a tip on how to 'unblock' a disastrous author's block that's stopping me from updating any of my DC fics..?? Namely Four Points...

After months, ideas are popping up for other fandoms...but DC is sort of numb in my mind. I have to confess that I have no clue how the story's going on now in the manga but that's the ( Read more... )

Just reread the fic you want to continue and take notes of your thoughts while doing it. This always helps me during such a phase. And then just try to remember the whole fic and fantasize about what can happen before you fall asleep. If you get a good idea, write it down without trying to write a chapter before it has taken a recognizable shape. :)

It usually helps to plan the whole fic in advance, though, before you continue a multi-chapter.

Yes, I did have a timeline jotted out when I was first writing the story and trying to get a story line done (mostly to get all the plot bunnies out of my head).
Unfortunately, I lost all of these notes and files when my computer died.. -_-°

I'm re-reading all the chapters, correcting things here and there and trying to remember what I wanted to write at the time..

I'm hoping that some plot line is still alive in my mind. It's currently hoarded with random plot bunnies from other fandoms..

Thank you for the advice.. :)

Ouch. I lost the second half of an old fic of mine, too, and I doubt I'm going to rewrite it again...

The answer to those things: Evernote. XD

I think you should just write the other plunnies instead of forcing yourself to continue a fic if you no longer feel like writing it.
