Adventures in dentistry...and life

Jan 16, 2013 11:50

So late last year, (December) I continued my plan to actually be an adult instead of playing at one and made appointments with both an eye doc and a dentist. I now have contacts again which I have not had since college and that was over five years ago. This brings me a lot of joy ( Read more... )

Ugh dental stuff is terrifying, but it seems like you've definitely got the hard part done with by getting proactive about the whole thing, so GO YOU! \o/

When it comes to watching hockey games there are always streams online for NHL games, but it's sort of hard to predict what those sites are / will be right now, because a lot of the ones I used last season have changed or moved or been deleted. On Saturday I'm going to be doing some recon and I'll post a list of sites where you'll find links to the games on my LJ, though, if that might be of some help!

Ugh...dentists. I never really had a problem with them when I was a kid. I had pretty good teeth and got them cleaned every six months and I could always floss more (but who can't?) and it was fine. But yeah...the leaving it for 6 years was a big problem. Ah well. What are you going to do. And really, my dentist now is lovely and there is no pain...just some uncomfortable times when I wish I could swallow but someone has his hands in my mouth. lol.

So, if I understand you correctly, if I want to watch games live, I have online options but if I need to record/watch later that might be more difficult? Or am I missing something? I am not good at figuring things out on the internet. I sometimes wonder how I manage being in fandom AT ALL.

But yes, I will be checking your info out! And thanks! <3

That sounds like a pretty sweet arrangement altogether! Apart from the part where people have their hands in your mouth because YEAH that will never not be weird. My old dentist had this unfortunate but hilarious habit of asking me questions while she had her hands in my mouth and then looking at me all expectantly, totally waiting for answer? YOUR FINGERS ARE ON MY TONGUE, LADY, I CAN BARELY BREATHE, NEVERMIND SPEAK ( ... )

Oh the dreaded questions when your mouth is full of FINGERS. Yeah, that is never a smooth way to go by dentists.

Oh...I like the sound of the Vault package. Cool. You are just a fount of useful information! THANK YOU!!!

hmmm...I seem to have NO hockey icons. I think this needs to be fixed.

Chiming in to absolutely agree on the Robert Jordan epic saga of epicness that I too have been reading since my early teems. Problems - agreed, annoyances - many and multiplying (especially since the new guy took over), handwaving over general practicalities (how exactly does one handcuff a man with one hand?) - definitely, am I having a huge amount of fun reading it? Absolutely! (Plus, I'm happy 'cos I've just got to Mat merrily and tactlessly ignoring women who can end him with a look, in favour of banter. I'm just hoping he doesn't get killed off - I can sense an imminent bloodbath...).

Hi! I am SO glad you did chime in.

I am not sure how much my annoyances are with Mr. Sanderson instead of Mr. Jordan...I was growing more and more annoyed with the series as I got older but he certainly hasn't HELPED them any, that is for sure.

I always feel like they keep Mat out of the beginning of the books on purpose now. Like, you want to know about the only FUN CHARACTER LEFT?!?!? HAHAHA - read 300 pages of battle plans, or Aes Sedai squabbling, or Rand being stubborn, first! Then maybe we will give you 10 pages of Mat so you keep going. ugh, but perhaps my perception is skewed.

Yes, I will be very annoyed if Mat is one of the casualties of the last battle.

I don't think your perception is skewed in any way! I would not be at all surprised if the Powers that Be in Publishing had done research on "this are the general ten pages where people will open the book when they're browsing in bookshops" and then purposefully put the fun character there...

I rather suspect that they may also have quotas for Nyneave tugging her braid, women folding their arms, Aes Sedai adjusting their shawls, Egwene being just so much better and wiser than everyone else and Perrin being frankly boring. I think at this point I'm down to Mat, Min, Loial and possibly Bela the horse for characters I actually care about. And yet now we're on book 14, we can't not read it!

!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much! I am pretty excited about my life right now, too. Italian is SO much a part of the opera world and the next three gigs I have are all Italian opera and so you know... it just makes sense to bite the bullet. Plus...spending time in Italy...what is not to love?

I miss you, too lovely. I hope that you are doing well and are finding success and happiness in all that you are pursuing. xoxo

Oh, I so empathize on the dentist thing. I only had a 2 year gap and that was enough to make me pay a price :/

But congrats on all the exciting things coming up, can't wait to hear more! *smishes*

if it makes you feel any better, i went waaaaaay longer than six years without going to the dentist. and then i found a dentist, and went, and lost my job and thus my dental plan. hmph. but still, six years is nothing. and you bit the bullet and went, so go you. :D

(adulthood is HARD, man.)

go to italy! learn italian! see the sights! eat gelato!

and hey, congrats (and good luck?) on your new exciting directing gigs! ...were you not doing professional directing before?

Yeah, I know it could be a lot worse. :/

I want to go to Italy for sure. It will be amazing. I just have to get everything lined up. But yes, I am think I will prob leave sometime in April or May.

Thanks! Well, I was directing professionally, but for resident arts on a small stage with piano and not a full orchestra. I have been Assistant Directing professionally on the big stage for a while. But this will be the first time my name and my name alone is up there as director and it is for the main stage production of an opera company with full orchestra, full budget, full production and costumes and everything.
