Well, I can tell you all of the places I'm applying for, and I'm in the same situation as you, only I'd be willing to work more than summer time.
Target, Fazolis (perhaps I should learn how to spell it), Bread Co., McDonalds.
Keeeeepin it reeeeal. I could ask Nikisha if she can find you a job, since you're willing to bus. She has hook-ups out the what now (not really, but she might be able to get you a job a Racanellis or somethingorother.).
Thanks Lil' May May, you are awesome. I am going to work on making resumes (or collect info for putting onto application forms) and ask Deane and peoples to be references for me or something. Then fill out online applications tomorrow and hit up businesses on Hampton. That would be awesome if you could have Nikisha keep on the look out.
i have never job hunted....buuuut i have noticed some now hiring around my neighborhood...theres Game-X opening in the Hollywood video on Hampton and a whole bunch of stuff in that little Chippewa lot thinggy with the new petsmart. Try Science Center.?
Well, you can take my job at Judevine if I find something else. You could take the Chipewa/Watson bus out there.
The best way to deal with the only being able to work for two months is to not tell them. Most no skill work has ridiculous turn over anyway.
You should inquire at every store at the strip mall by your house. Try Schnucks they are often hiring something. You should put together a resume with your volunteer experience, babysitting, or anything else you can think of that mildly resembles work.
Judevine works with people with Autism to teach them life skills. Ussually they are hring people to work in the house. This generally includes doing fun things with the individuals, but also changing diapers and dealing with behaviors.
what about in that plaza on kingshighway and chippewa-where they are building all those new stores? the best way to get a summer job is to not tell them it is just for the summer...even tho that is dishonest, you'll be more likely to get a job if you dont say you are leaving soon.
summer employment :)msmademoiselleJune 9 2004, 13:26:55 UTC
I third the suggestion that you not be up front about leaving. It's hard to lie, but sometimes you have to look out for yourself... as Charlie said, that kind of work is really high turnover, anyway, so they lose people all the time. If they ask if you're going to college, say that you're either planning on taking a year off, or that you're going to be living at home and going to SLU or UMSL or something like that. And, you can put me as a reference :)

I feel that I will not go so far with the lying, as making up stories, however, I won't be up front about it (except to small businesses, because I don't like to hurt small businesses). I have a lot of references, but it would be great if you would be one too. Do you have a number that you would want me to use?

Molly has my number (she asked if I would be a reference for her). Or, it's in the book (just avoiding posting contact info on the Internet :))
