I like the idea of installing a flour sifter permanently in a cupboard. That would never have occurred to me, I don't think. In our house, all the baking supplies got tucked away in some cabinet, only to come out when there was baking to do (once or twice a week.) It was a medium sized kitchen, large enough to work in, but not with extra space to leave things sitting out when not in use.

I loved LP's also. Naturally i had my favorites, on which I knew every song in order, and where all the scratches and pops were, which became part of the music. And who doesn't enjoy a wood burning fireplace? The smells, the real wood, even the leftover cinders and dead fire smell -- I guess the pleasure goes back to our ancestral cave days when the fire represented life.

Lovely thoughts, Mark.
