What Does It Matter?

There are a lot of philosophies out there about whether we matter. Whether anything matters. Some say that we are all part of a grand design and so everything we do is important. Our lives and actions matter, yes. Some more and some less. Meaning that some of us hold positions that allow us to effect a bigger chunk of the world.

No, our lives and actions really don't matter. The planet turns, regardless...the stars are still shining...
Gosh, I could just as easily have answered this way.

Truth is, I have flip-flopped back and forth on this question a lot, for as long as I can remember. Maybe the truth is only that my life and my actions matter a lot TO ME, and to those close to me. That the people I effect, then go and effect others, and so it ripples outward.

This question reminds me of the Christmas movie, "It's a Wonderful Life."

i flip flop around on this issue too. and if i think too long about it, it gets depressing, not having any idea if i matter, let alone WHY i matter. (Most days i try to ignore it.)
