There are a lot of philosophies out there about whether we matter. Whether anything matters. Some say that we are all part of a grand design and so everything we do is important. Others say that it makes little of no difference if we exist at all. We're just random dots in a big cold universe. And both sides seem to believe their version deeply

No, our lives and actions really don't matter. The planet turns, regardless...the stars are still shining...
Gosh, I could just as easily have answered this way.
Truth is, I have flip-flopped back and forth on this question a lot, for as long as I can remember. Maybe the truth is only that my life and my actions matter a lot TO ME, and to those close to me. That the people I effect, then go and effect others, and so it ripples outward.
This question reminds me of the Christmas movie, "It's a Wonderful Life."
