why do women of colour "especially" deserve to be protected?

also, can you REALLY say "women of colour" witha straight face?

really?

women of colour especially need to be protected because they are part of two groups (women and people of colour) that are disproportionately affected by violence. Call me crazy but i think that security guards should try to pay special attention to people that tend to get beat up. Its kinda ummm...they're job (duh).

Why wouldn't i be able to say women of colour with a straight face?

the phrase just sounds ridiculous to me. 256 December 10 2006, 18:29:53 UTC
also, i'm not convinced. seems that my security is as much their responsibility as yours is (well, maybe that's not a good example, since i don't go to concordia and you do).

mostly though, it seems disingenuous to play this up so heavily as a racist/sexist issue when it seems to me the real problem is that the security guards are power tripping assholes. which isn't really a surprise, that's their job.

I didn't say its not their responsibility to ensure safety for everyone. Its a reality that some people are bullied more than others ( ... )
