it's a writing on paradise lost, it is full of theory and it talks about the "voicing" of eve, i think, and the idea of eve reflecting adam and hierarchy. it's your average feminist piece on it i guess, but i still think it's pretty interesting. and then there are all of these neat writings that i read along with it on how western religion mostly only places restrictions on women after they have sex. a virgin is almost not a woman, it's pretty neat.

in england we read the responses of a couple of female writers to this piece. unfortunately, i can't really remember their names. maybe rachel speght? what englishes are you in next semester?

yeah, i definitely used speght in my paper. i was only reading swetnam to see what she was writing against. i find them both weirdly entertaining. i blame dr. barbour for this. (=

i am in: southern american lit, american lit 1860-1900, the american novel, and (for now) victorian issues, but i will probably drop that.
