I have officially moved!  As of this past Saturday, I am completely moved into my apartment.  I still have boxes & boxes - the second bedroom is almost full of book boxes - to unpack, but at least everything is here. Chavez seems to be adapting well.  She's suddenly way less needy without two other cats and a dog to freak her out.

The best part ( Read more... )

moving, books, yuletide

What can I say? In a perverse way I rather enjoy hockey lockouts. They show just how bizarre, wierd and disconnected sports is from reality. Unfortunately on that note I just don't see hockey happening this season. The two sides seem to be way too far apart, and more importantly it doesn't matter if they claw back 50% of the player salaries when they have franchises in cities that don't make money. That, and its hard to plead poverty when doling out 10+ year $100 million contracts. :-/

But on a much more upbeat note...yay! Moving in for the win! :-)

Congrats!! Sorry about the rain and stuff though.

So Code Name Verity was good? It sounds interesting. Is it very wrenching? Like Montmaray wrenching?

Oh man, Maggie. It was so good. But absolutely wrenching - probably worse than Montmaray except that you don't have 3 books of investment in the characters. The girls crash in Nazi-occupied France - the book opens there so it's not a spoiler, and it's really heart-breaking in places. It's incredibly beautiful though & as an examination of friendship, patriotism, and how we tell stories...I was completely impressed.

I'm pasting the book jacket below here. It pretty much shows what you're getting into.

I have two weeks. You’ll shoot me at the end no matter what I do ( ... )

Wow. I'll have to check it out. If I'm forewarned that it's wrenching, I'll try to be prepared for it.

Currently reading 2nd book in the Newsflesh trilogy. Man was the twist at the end of the first book crazy!

I totally waited to read CNV until I knew my brain was in the right place. Because yeah, wrenching and it's not something you want to get smacked by.

Oh man, YES. D: D: How did you like Feed? I really enjoyed the whole trilogy, but Feed is definitely my favorite.

Hooray for moving and Yuletide and Code Name Verity! I have a copy of that book, which I can read as soon as I get my grading done... Be strong, self! Finish that grading!

Finish the grading! For once you begin Code Name Verity, I would not bet on your putting it down until you're finished! (Unless I'm just cross-applying my experience to you >.> )

Srsly though. Grading. Then BOOKS.
