The Building’s Not Going According To Plan, I (Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas)

...So. Uh. Yeah.
::...::
Kevin gives himself one night. He doesn’t say that he thinks he’s entitled to it, but he thinks it, and he knows Joe and Nick are thinking it too, despite the disapproval slanting Nick’s mouth and the something disturbingly like disillusionment in Joe’s eyes, because they let him go without asking any questions.
Over coffee blacker than he’s ever had it before the next morning, he will admit to himself he was being an idiot; when he leaves his brothers that night, alone for the sake of hopefully keeping a low profile, the only thing he can admit to is that he wants to forget that the girl he was going to marry has broken up with him. Thinking about Danielle, about the engagement ring she’d handed over that he doesn’t know what to do with, about the fact that the whole world knows he’s been dumped, is what he’s trying to avoid. For one night, he’s not letting himself careThe guy’s name is Mike. At least, Kevin’s pretty sure the guy’s name is Mike. He hopes it is, anyway, considering he’s got Kevin pushed

From the way the guy’s staring at him, Kevin thinks maybe he should recognize him, but he doesn’t. It almost makes him feel guilty. The guy’s not his band’s normal demographic, but there’s every possibility that he is a fan, and that Kevin met him once, signed an autograph or something, and he doesn’t like fans thinking he doesn’t remember them, that they’re not special. He loves his fans.
Or he could not be a fan at all; Joe’s theory is that he’s a hitman hired to take them out. His theory doesn’t come with a why-why would anybody hire a hitman to kill them, they’re the Jonas Brothers-but the guy looks like killing somebody is maybe something he wouldn’t have a problem with. So Joe’s theory has some merit

“Um,” his face has settled on blushing, it seems, “Mike. Hey. So. I’m, um. I don’t really remember a lot, but...” He doesn’t know where to go with that, doesn’t know what to say to this man he nearly slept with, so he ends up blurting out “why didn’t we have sex?” because that’s something else he can’t remember.
And Mike-Mike scoffs at him, shakes his head, like Kevin’s just pathetic, says “I’m not big on regrets, kid,” which is a little mortifying to hear, honestly.
There is nothing Kevin can think of to respond with-what do you say to somebody who’s just told you that if they’d slept with you, they’d have regretted it?-so he’s never been more grateful to hear Nick snap his name. He can’t meet Mike’s gaze, doesn’t want to look up and see that smirk anymore, so he mumbles a goodbye to Mike’s knees and sort of stumbles over to Joe, who throws and arm around him and leads him towards the stage and the roar of their fans.
Later, when his eyes are stinging, he tells himself its sweat and shakes his hair out of his face.

He is completely sober when he kisses Shenae Grimes at an afterparty for an event he didn’t even go to. She’s supposed to be his date, but they’ve never actually hung out before, so it’s all PR-Kevin needs to look like he’s moving on, or something.
Shenae’s nails match her dress, purple against the gray of Kevin’s jacket sleeve when she touches his arm, and her lips are soft. He keeps his mouth shut when he presses it against hers, has both hands on her waist, keeping careful distance between their bodies. Her hands move to his shoulders but she doesn’t try to lean it or make the kiss into anything that it isn’t. When he pulls away, she lets him go and smiles.
“That was nice,” she says, which is exactly what it was, it was nice. Kissing Shenae was nice. Kevin’s stomach is cramping as he smiles back

(warning: this part is kind of porny.)

The fact that Pete actually does call Kevin, and invites him to a party, doesn’t surprise him as much as the fact that he actually goes. Pete finds him five minutes after he gets there, disappears five minutes after that, and Kevin looks around at a room full of people he doesn’t know and tells himself that he can leave in a hour. Any sooner would be impolite.
Kevin ignores the alcohol and the soda-it’s all in bottles and all the bottles are open, so he’s not sure it’s safe to drink-in favor of a cup of water. He wanders from room to room looking for a place to sit before giving up and leaning against a wall, staring at his shoes, feeling out of place, trying not to look at his watch too often. Nobody says anything to him. After twenty minutes he’s feeling so awkward he decides to just go, and if he sees Pete on the way out he’ll say goodnight, but if not, well. He’ll text him, or something.
When he looks up, his stomach jolts, because there’s Mike-Kevin didn’t even stop to think,

“Oh,” Kevin whines, wiggles, tries to spread his legs more, tries to open, because what’s Mike doing is amazing. Mike makes a noise-it’s, like, a growl-and Kevin can feel it, and Mike’s mouth is seriously his favorite thing in the world.
His tongue is flat against Kevin’s asshole, wet, and slick, and then it’s pointed and flicking and Kevin is losing his mind, it feels so-so-his fingers are in Mike’s hair, he can’t stop making noise, gasping, moaning, and he doesn’t even realize he’s sobbing, he’s actually sobbing, until Mike stops, moves, stretches along Kevin’s body and nudges at his cheek with his nose, one hand resting warm on his stomach

Kevin wakes up with his head pillowed on Mike’s shoulder, Mike’s arm settled heavy and warm around his waist; he slides his palm down Mike’s stomach and curls it over his hip, and Mike’s breath hitches slightly

So, hey, I'm the anon who wrote this, and I feel like I should ask, since you're the OP...you wouldn't mind if I wrote a sequel/companion piece, would you? I dunno, I just sat down one day and started writing one (when I should have been writing something else entirely), and it's nearly finished, but I wanted to check with you because I'm weird and also because I don't want to accidentally step on anybody's toes. If it is okay, I'm going to un-anon and repost this at my journal when I finish/post the sequel, and of course it'll go up on sodamnskippy.
