I think part of the issue with the "good" elljay Beatles communities going downhill is lack of moderation to them. Beatlesecrets, as someone alluded to earlier, should be much more closely moderated and the secrets sorted through before posting. If it's not a SECRET, don't post it. Complaints and rants don't deserve to be considered secrets and only start fights ( ... )

Agreed. Same thing has happened just RECENTLY. What the Dickens?? jhp's mod really needed to steop in here, and not just at the end when the whole thing went nuts. It shouldn't be up to people like nemperor to be the voice of reason in all this madness. To see how good moderating is done, jhp's mod(s) should take a look at how things are run at beatlesslash ( ... )

The way to solve the problem with the hate/rants in beatle comms is the simple "If you can't say something nice..." and if someone starts some drama, just do the mature thing and let it slide, ignore, whatever. One negative comment that is ignored remains ONE negative comment, but replying to it creates two, and of course creates more. Even the Beatles couldn't give peace a change with the very people they loved. People are imperfect and there's always going to be drama. People start shit because they're bored and/or unhappy.

Everyone take everything too seriously. I honestly can only think of a handful of people who don't annoy me in the Beatle fandom at this point. That's why I've pretty much left it.

I agree, everybody takes it way too serious. If you say something cynical or something that is not funny to them, they take it as an insult. They can't just laugh at a situation. They are ruining the happy mood of how Beatles communities are supposed to be.

Yep, still dead now too. Too bad, seeing as this was a great idea.

Bit extreme?? It's art isn't it? Artistic licence?

The entries for that fic (I assume you're referring to lukinha_jesus' story Rock 'n Scars) are now locked, so there's no danger of the comm getting taken down. What's the big deal? No one's forcing you to read it, if you don't like the content, just don't click on it. Why are people being so immature about this? It's not that difficult. You wouldn't pick up a book on a subject that made you uncomfortable, so just don't read the fic if you're not into the story.

Yes but it brings the whole tone of the fandom down. I just mean, where is the cut-off point? Can we just write about absolutely anything we want to? I think it is up to the individuals in this fandom to stand up and say when soemething is unacceptable. These rape stories are sick, they're written for sick people who get off on reading about a person who has been rapes. Rape is not sexy. And don't try and tell me that this story is some artistic sensitive study of rape, it is completely unrealistic and at the end of the day the rape is only used to make the inevitable sex between john and paul seem more sexy. Don't kid yourselves. It's just another example of people creepily getting off on horrific suffering, it's like people who slow down to look at a car crash or people who absolutely love books like A child called 'it'. It tars all fic with the same brush, it makes us all complicit, and it shouldn't be allowed. I'm glad I've left the com it's gone down the pan, and the moderation is hopeless.
