Are there any tutorials for tumblr graphics? I'd love to try my hand at making them, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the bigger canvas after making 100x100 squares for so long.
I haven't come across any tutorials as such but I understand what you mean. Bigger canvases are so empty and intimidating. :)
In order to like familiarize myself with it, I started off with simple blocking. Like I collect a few pictures that I like or fit a theme, colour them individually and then arrange them accordingly and sometimes vaguely blend them too. Then I use textures over them, set to which ever blend layer seems appropriate. Sometimes I place the texture ( the tumblr ones with the mountains and all) first and then play around with the caps and opacities. Don't feel intimidated by it. Just open your programme and mess around. Also look at tumblr graphics for inspiration and maybe you can even try to re-create them if you feel pressed for ideas. Things will seem a little hit and miss at first but come together soon enough. :)
Make them in pieces and then mash them together! :D
Pixelation is probs the most annoying thing about it which is why I split up the composition onto different canvases, work on them separately and then bring them all onto one canvas. Try expanding slowly for practice. Go 300x300 first, get comfy and work up to 500x500.
I've watched it all and like it, just don't like their faces all too much to icon sorry! I'm looking forward to elementary even if it is just to icon Lucy Liu.
Mind you if you had some caps under that bag, it may be a different story :P
