some thoughts about heroicon : so many applied so few entered,something tells me that they're going to lack participation and put it on hiatus.

IMO, people don't usually apply to elite comms because they want to participate. They want validation, they want to be told they're good (or good enough), to be part of a select few.

We should have some sort of elite-or-not comm or something of the sort that would rate or rank makers, so those who apply would get the gold star they want, and leave all the other comms with free-for-all participation, so maybe those who actually want to participate (but can't because of the application process) would.

Good god people, what is it with the sudden butthurt over elite communities? They've existed for years and they will continue to exist no matter how much you whine and complain about it, so why not take it as a challenge and improve as much as you can to be able to participate like all the other makers who got in did, instead of just sitting here complaining about something you can't change anyway.
You can't please everyone. A few people who didn't get in don't get to spoil the fun for the ones who did and enjoy the competition and the way it pushes them to do better. It's not as if there weren't enough non-elite communities you can participate in, you just ignore them in favor of the elite ones which is hypocritical.

I like the idea of an elite-or-not community, where people would vote anonimously if others are elite or not based on their recent work. Possibly receive concrit, if wanted?
