That being said--there are quite a few people in game who will come and seek you out as a new person, and try and help you get situated. There are incredibly open people in the game.
Just have to find them.

And some of my most favorite CR is with people I've met there! It can be intimidating, but overall my experience has been great.

And for any of you that have felt unwelcome, I'm sorry. I, for one, really enjoy playing with all of you. And if there was a plot idea you had with me that fell through, get into contact with me and we'll make it happen.

I did find it a lot easier to get involved and make friends after I got a Plurk, although YMMV on that since I've also met a bunch of people who don't use Plurk and still seem to be just as happy at Sing. This might be kind of a duh moment, but one of the other things that might determine whether or not you fit in easily and/or quickly is canonmates. I don't know if you're apping in as a lone canon warrior or not (and if you are, that's awesome; I love this game, don't get me wrong, but it sure is Halo/Homestuck/Tron up in here--and I say that as a member of one of those casts), but if you've got castmates? Hit them up on AIM or via PM; everyone I've talked to OOCly in this game has been super-friendly and receptive of random IMs out of the blue, and everyone The OOC comm is also really good for plotting with people whom you might not normally be in touch with. One caveat, though ( ... )
