Kitty is about 18 years old. I know that this is a few months old, but wanted to note from too much experience: at her age, the inappropriate urination is almost certainly a sign something is wrong. Hiding it is a good sign as it means it very well might be treatable or curable. If she hides it and is also hiding (especially in the same place) then you're in trouble.

Yes, vet bills are nightmarishly expensive... The cost to one's sanity of having cats die without warning at home is a whole lot higher, because they rarely go quietly and/or in their sleep. You don't want to learn this the hard way, believe me...
