Becker glanced at his watch then let his head fall back against the headrest in frustration. Why the hell won’t you close already? he thought. It had been almost two hours since he’d arrived to find that Thomas’ team had everything under control; no creature incursions, no casualties, and the anomaly had already been locked.

He’d been about to leave, certain that things were very much under control when Martin’s phone had beeped. With the announcement that his wife was in labour, Becker had offered to stand guard with Thomas until the anomaly closed.

He glared at the tiny glowing sphere, as if doing so would make a difference. It didn’t. He toyed with the idea of just leaving Thomas to wait it out, but anomalies had unlocked before and he would not leave one of his men to deal with it alone. No, he was stuck here until the damn thing disappeared.

Becker was still glaring menacingly at the stubborn orb when his phone chirped, alerting him to a new text. He laughed at the contents, but did as he was instructed and switched to a secure channel.

“You’re late.”

“You had me switch to a secure channel just to tell me I’m late getting home?”

Jess laughed softly. “Well, I’m wondering if I should go ahead and order take out.”

“I’d wait for a bit. This damn thing just will not close.”

“Oh. So no idea how much longer you’ll be then?”

“Nope.”

“Hmmm…”

“Wait a minute. You left long before I did. Did you get called back in?”

“No.”

“Then what’s with the secure channel business? How are you even on a secure channel if you’re already at home.”

“Becker, I’m the field coordinator. I do things with computer all day long.”

“You hacked in from home to call me on a secure channel just to find out when I’d be there?”

“Possibly.”

“Jessica,” he growled.

Jess sighed. “One would think you weren’t happy to be talking to me.”

“Jess, it’s not that.”

“Fine. I’ll tell you why I called you on a secure channel. You see, I went shopping on my way home.”

Becker was well aware of Jess and her famous shopping trips. He was also aware that when she was in a mood to shop, none of those trips had taken less than three hours. “More shoes?”

“Nope.”

That explained why the shopping trip hadn’t taken that long. “Groceries?”

“Nope.”

Even though he thought his third option was highly unlikely given the amount of time she’d had, he couldn’t help asking. “Clothes?”

“Sort of,” Jess answered with a rather naughty chuckle that left Becker a little on edge.

“What kind of clothes?” he asked cautiously.

“The kind no one but you will ever see.”

Oh, God. He glanced back at the anomaly, which was still locked tightly and apparently still not in any hurry to close. “Jess, this really isn’t a good idea.”

“What?” she asked innocently. “We’re on a secure channel. Besides, I just thought you might like to be prepared for what you’ll find when you get home. I know you like to be prepared.”

“You thought telling me about what you’ll be wearing when I get home is a good thing when I’m stuck sitting in my truck wondering at this rate if I’ll ever get home? Not to mention the fact that one of my men is leaning against the hood of his truck not five feet from me right now?”

Jess giggled. “So then I shouldn’t tell you that the set I bought has a little bit of lace and not much else. I also probably shouldn’t mention that it’s black, right?”

Becker groaned. “No,” he replied, a bit too emphatically.

“And I really shouldn’t tell you that when I put them on all I could think about was you taking them off, right?” Jess chuckled as Becker whimpered her name. “Not that you’d even need to take them off. They offer such easy access to everything.”

Becker closed his eyes. She was trying to kill him. That’s all there was too it. She wanted him dead.

“Oh and Becker?”

“Hmm?”

“When I stopped by mine there was a package there.”

“Package?”

“Mm hmm.”

Please God, no. Not that. “Not the-“ he swallowed hard.

“And I definitely shouldn’t tell you that I just grabbed a nice bottle of wine and the box and headed straight to your place?”

“Jessica,” he pleaded.

“You know, I haven’t even opened it yet. Maybe I should just go ahead and do that now. Should I just go ahead and do that now?” She thought she heard him groan. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

Becker heard the sound of cellophane breaking and then paper rustling followed by a soft gasp from Jess. “Jess?”

“Oh my,” she drawled.

“Jess please.” He could hear her humming to herself.

“Now where are the batteries?” she muttered under her breath.

Fuck! Here he was, in his truck, watching an anomaly that simply refused to close, one of his men standing close by all the while his girlfriend was in skimpy lingerie at his place ogling the new vibrator they’d ordered on a whim. And God help him, the image that presented itself in his mind had him getting hard.

Realizing that he had two options, the first was to switch back to an open channel thus ending his torment until he got home where it would be likely he’d find Jess pissed off and fully dressed with no intention of ever letting him see the lacy things she’d just bought. If she was even still there.

The second option was to just go along with this particular form of torture which definitely meant he’d have a very good night once he got home. It would just be utter hell until he got there. There really was no choice. Taking a deep breath, he whispered, “Tell me.”

“Tell you what?” she asked distractedly.

“About what you bought.”

Jess smiled to herself. She looked down at what she was wearing, wondering how to do this properly. “Well they’re black.”

Becker laughed. “God, we really are rubbish at this.”

“Well how would you like me to describe the cupless shelf bra and crotchless knickers I bought on the way home? I mean they are lacy and they are black,” she huffed.

Becker’s brain melted at her words. “What else are you wearing?” he asked, his voice a bit strained.

“Just that. And well…”

“Yes?”

“Socks,” Jess muttered quietly.

“What was that?” He couldn’t have heard her properly. She had to have meant stockings.

“I said socks, okay?”

Becker laughed as he heard what sounded like Jess dropping rather heavily onto his sofa.

“Becker, your floors are freezing. And I wasn’t about to go strolling around your flat in heels.”

Becker’s mouth went dry as his mind presented an image of Jess in her new lingerie, stockings, and that one black pair of killer stilettos she owned as she leaned against the door frame to his bedroom holding their new toy. Fuck, shit, damn, piss, bugger, bugger, bugger, fuck, fuck, FUCK! A tap on his window startled him before his mind could add that cheeky little sexy grin she had that would have been his complete undoing. “What?” he shouted at Thomas.

Thomas took a step back. “I tried to reach you on comms, sir, but you weren’t answering. The anomaly has finally closed. Just thought you might like to know.”

Becker’s head snapped to where the anomaly had been just a minute ago. He could still hear Jess in his ear telling him how he needed to get some carpets for his floors because, honestly, who in the world didn’t have carpets here and there on their hardwood floors. He glanced back at Thomas. “Good. Go ahead and take the locking device back. You can fill out your report in the morning.”

Thomas nodded. “Sir, are you,” he hesitated briefly, “okay? You seem a bit distracted.”

“I’m fine, Thomas. Just remembering something I meant to do before I left. It can wait until morning.”

“Right. See you tomorrow, sir.” Thomas started back to his truck but stopped and turned back. “And sir?”

"What?"

“Don’t forget to have your earpiece checked.”

“I’ll give it to Parker first thing.”

Thomas nodded, strode back to the locking device, packed it up, got in his truck, and left.

Becker closed his eyes briefly but quickly reopened them as Jess began shouting in his ear.

“You’ll give me what?”

Becker was glad Jess couldn’t see the filthy smile that he knew was plastered on his face at her question. “You’ll see, my dear Jessica, you’ll see.”

“Becker?”

“The anomaly has closed.”

“Really?” Jess asked cautiously.

“Yes, really.”

“So I should order food now?”

“You can order it, but we won’t be eating it right away.”

“Oh, we won’t?”

“No, we won’t,” he replied firmly.

“Oh. My.”

“Exactly.” He started the truck and was about to drive away when he remembered something. “Jess?”

“Yes?”

“Did you ever find the batteries?”

“No,” she pouted. “Bloody thing didn’t come with any.”

“Right. I’ll pick some up on the way home. I’ll be there soon.” Becker tapped his earpiece, shutting it off. As he waited to pull on to the road, it dawned on him that he hadn’t a clue as to what size batteries he needed to get. Oh well. He’d just pick up a variety. Along with condoms. Lots and lots of condoms.

just kiss her prompt fill, jess/becker
