It seems LJ has a limit of 650 friends posts that I can read. So I'll have to figure out a way to read posts from pre-June. (In other words - you guys post too much)

I'll be posting at least something with a bunch of links at some point when I get through everything. I'm not sure how much I'll post about the trip. (Anyone who can - must go)

I think you can get around that by clicking on each friend's personal journal.

Good idea..
I'll also am thinking of trying to see if I using categories can get around that limit. But I'll play with that tomorrow. (Remove the communities that post often stuff I don't care as much about.)

that sounds feasable. Also you could remove them, read as much as you want, then add them again.

Just an FYI: The limit seems to be in the number of days and not the number of comments. So I guess I'm SOL for those days.
I can check the people I care for those two days, but not everyone. Kinda annoying in that I never saw that announced anywhere on LJ's documentation before.

I'm running into the day limit at the moment, too. I got to about 600 -- but that was after filtering the posts a lot, since I'd been gone for two weeks and knew there'd be waaay too many to read. I don't know what I'll do when I'm gone for a month.

After playing with it for a while, I am pretty sure it is a day limit and not a post limit. That means that you can only go back about 14 days (I was gone 17 and missed 3 I think). Filters only help to make it easier to read rather than impact how far back you can go in my experience.

My guess even paid accounts have the same problem.

Yes and yes -- I'd already figured out it was a day limit, because the last page for me contained only one entry (the rest were on days before that). And I have a paid account.

I finally found it hidden somewhere in FAQ. 14 days!
