so I'm considering enlisting... probably either marines or air force... don't know why, but lately I've just felt like it's something I should do... but I dunno... what do u think?

um, maybe I am just selfish...but I really don't think you should...especially with all that is going on right now. You would most likely 99% be sent overseas. Does this opinion make me less of a citizen? I just don't agree with us still being in Iraq, or initially going there in the first place, so I would not want to stand behind it and go risk my life for it. But you do what you would want to do...

If you want to do that, wait until you're either a senior or have your degree and do OCS. You'll enter as a commissioned officer. I shouldn't need to elaborate as to why that's an advantage. Looks very good on resumes...degree + several years of military officer (read: leadership) experience. Almost anybody will hire you on the spot.

Go Air Force! If you want to actually be part of the fighting and truly get the whole soldier experience, marines. If you don't want to get deployed (or rather wouldn't mind being deployed to say Landstuhl, Germany, or such) air force is the way to go. Its the cushy version of everything else. Enlisting gets you the GI Bill for education and such...the officers do have a version of it, not sure what its called, but it is pretty much the equivalent. I'm seriously considering joining the AF for med. school.
