The Lodger

I've been out of it this weekend. Had a wisdom tooth taken out, that wasn't much fun. I watched this weeks episode on Saturday but haven't felt much like writing anything til now. After watching it again, with my sisters this time, here are some of my thoughts:

- I have one sister, R, who watches all the eps with me. The other, S, sometimes stumbles in on us watching and decides to hang around, today was the first time this season she watched. When Matt Smith's name came up on the credits she made a little boo noise. R said, "What was that for?" S replied, "He's not David Tennant." We both got defensive over this, which I thought was cool. Nice job, Doctor Who team, we like Matt a lot in this house. :)

- The Doctor fell out of the TARDIS, and it sounded like he was attempting to go somewhere else. Obviously not expecting or prepared for the whole 'bad thing upstairs'. So how did he get the bluetooth arrangement set up with Amy? He had it in his pocket, maybe?

-Craig seemed like a nice, average guy, I liked him. I've read online that the actor provokes something of a mixed reaction in the UK... sort of glad I live in America, because I wasn't biased towards him one way or another. I think he did a good job. So did Sophie, they were sweet together.

-The Doctor is... not very good at passing for an average human. (I loved his weird gadget made out of brooms and and umbrellas. And him running out of the shower to save Craig with a sonic toothbrush.)  Poor Craig, having to deal with him. It made me think about how Rose is getting along with her Doctor in the alternate universe, it can't have been much better. :P

-Speaking of Rose, _thirty2flavors alerted me to the fact that Rose is in the little head-bash montage, which made me squee a bit. :D :D :D

- "Six billion people... watching you two at work, I'm starting to wonder where they all come from." LOL, Doctor, like you're one to talk.

- So the ship upstairs... a crashed TARDIS? Or just something similar to a TARDIS, because I'm sure Time Lords wouldn't design their ships with stupid emergency programs that try to recruit 'inferior species' for pilots. And the Doctor said he was too powerful to be the pilot, it would blow up the Solar System... but it looked like TARDIS on the inside. Oh well.

-Amy finds her engagement ring again, and that does something to the crack. Is she starting to remember? (Someone suggested out she might assume the Doctor has been carrying it around because he plans to propose to her, which, D:)

All in all, cute episode, though I would have loved to see the original idea with Ten and Mickey onscreen, instead of the odd comic that we got. They could have filmed that in place of Love and Monsters (which is my least favorite episode of all DW, smack in the middle of my favorite season.)

In other news, I recently watched 42 again today with the power of Netflix. Not much new to say there, except at the end of the episode, Martha gets her TARDIS key, and it made me think... Amy doesn't have a key yet! Or if she does, it was given to her off screen. What's with that?

Also, Netflix cracks me up. The people who write the episode summaries obviously have not watched the show. They believe the Doctor's full name is 'Doctor Who' and often reference him by his 'last' name: Who. Umm. For instance, the summary for Last of the Time Lords is as follows: "Martha and Doctor Who's worst fears come to pass when the evil Master seizes control of the earth, reigns with an iron fist, and imprisons Who... leaving the fate of the earth, time and space in Martha's tiny hands." LOL poor Martha.
