Double or Nothing

So I have been very busy this past week with final papers to write and tests to take, and because of that I didn't get a reaction post up for The Doctor's Wife. But I don't have much to say about it, other than it was delightful and Neil Gaiman is mostly forgiven for causing me childhood trauma. Mostly.

Today's episode was kind of slow paced, and a bit reminiscent of the Silurian two-parter from last year what with the "us against them" and the Doctor trying to unite both sides. But that's a fairly common trope, not necessarily a bad thing... hopefully the second part will be better than Cold Blood.

Some thoughts:

-Also vaguely reminded of New Earth... the cat nuns called their test subjects Flesh and didn't think of them as proper lifeforms.

-Moffat is really bashing us over the head with the pregnancy test/ eye-patch lady. It's like he thinks we've forgotten everything since the past week. (I know this episode was not written by him but I am assuming he is responisble for any series-arc plot points...)

-Amy has been wearing the same shirt for the past five episodes! Different jackets, different pants/skirts, but the same shirt. I guess it really is her favorite shirt...

-"Assume the position!" LOL I love that the Doctor has apparently given them safety instructions on what to do in the event of a crash landing.

-Despite the pacing, I do love the concept of this episode. Very Avatar, except, creepier. And if the avatar takes on a life of its own, it presents an interesting question... how do two people resume one life, when both feel they have an equal claim to it? (Assuming there isn't a convenient parallel universe to dump one in, of course.)

-After last week's episode, I hated seeing the TARDIS submerged in acid. D: Lol at the Doctor having to take off his shoes though. Speaking of acid, um, why are they mining it and pumping it to the mainland? What do people need highly corrosive acid for (in such large quantities)?

-Who wants to bet that Rory going off on his own is going to get him "killed" somehow? But I liked that Amy was the one to be jealous for once.

-And the Doctor has yet another clone. LOL. I bet Nine is jealous, he is the only new series Doctor not to have a double... of course, the Master has them all beat. :) From the next time trailer it looks like the two Doctors are going to be struggling against each other, could be interesting to watch.

Anyway, summer is finally here and now I have time to catch up on the things I want to do instead of pouring over schoolwork. Yay!
