What about when someone is smoking and driving and he accidentally drops the cigarette onto his crotch and while he is frantically trying to dig underneath himself the car veers into oncoming traffic and causes a head-on collision?
of course, you probably know my stance on this. ;)
my argument:
i choose to drink alcohol and no one forces me to intake that against my will. however, i cannot control someone else polluting my lungs against my will. sometimes i hardly drink when i go out yet i'm hung over from smoke. in fact, i had one drink at club foot once and almost threw up from all the smoke. i had to go home early because of it.
i'm glad smoking has been banned. now i can go out and not get sick needing to recover for days afterwards. we that oppose smoke are not whiners it IS that bad.
you also can't control someone driving home drunk and injuring or killing you either. or starting a fight with you or your boyfriend. or being harassed by some alcoholic homeless person. or having to pay higher insurance rates because of DUI accidents and medical issues related to alcohol use/abuse.
i know what your stance is, all i am saying is if people are choosing to ban use of substances in public, it is by far more beneficial to ban drinking than it is smoking. and if that is the choice that people want, it should include everything that is harmful, not just the vices you don't agree with.

12.self injury (intentional/accidental) 13. college dropouts (too many partys at skank delta ho) 14. depression/suicide 15. obesity (one shot of alcohol has 100 calories!)
i'd like to see some statistics on that. alcohol related deaths from all of the above things I listed, vs. smoking-related asthma and lung cancer or whatever other cancers you might get from smoking and second hand smoke.
I believe lung cancer kills on the order of 3x the number of people that die from all traffic accidents in the United States, which is probably the most smoke free country in the world. As far as deaths go, that probably proves the point if not giving a very clear picture. As far as other bad things, don't know.
I meant the scent aesthetic, specifically :) But hey, I'll take a smoker to bed any day of the week! I'm just guessing that a big part of the anti-smoking craze is due to people who don't like the smoky atmosphere. Those whiners should probably all move to the countryside though!
People want to keep liquor stores out because of black people! At least in Atlanta, that's how people think :)

is that why people lobby to keep liquor stores out of their districts/towns/neighborhoods?
regarding aesthetics:
sup with the smoking fetish then?
