One thing about growing up adopted, is that you always bump into other adoptee's, but you never run into birthparents

I love the Musing of the Lame blog. I respect her for speaking out, and the reform she is doing. I am a mother who placed a little boy for adoption within the past two years. I feel that part of the reason you feel like you have not met many birthparents, is that society deems us as selfless angels until we place, and after placement, we are horrible people who have no right to consider ourselves a parent because "a real parent wouldn't 'give away' their child." (that is what I have been told by my family at least)
