I have now covered the basics of George Silver's backsword. From here it is a matter of practise, increased judgement and learning to apply what I have been taught. There are additional subtleties, to be sure, details of the Close Fight, some additions to the style that lend from later backsword techniques, but from here I move from drill to ( Read more... )

The thing that you haven't mentioned, haven't yet experienced, is how much sheer unadulterated fun there is in fencing longsword.

It should also help you generalise your sense of the true place, as well as being constant work on your mobility, all of which will feed back to your single sword fight.

I'm going to miss that Sunday session, (feel free to use my gear), but I'll see you Wednesday next week for sure.

My boy is working sunday, and all going well (ie i'm able to walk) I will attempt to trek out to Camperdown and have a look... Maybe have a catch up beverage???

Just a quick note/reminder. I'm having drinks in the city Thursday afternoon to celebrate my last day at the church @ The Star Bar @ 5pmish and then again Friday afternoon (cause I'm not working) @ The Bank out the back in the cocktail bar @ 3pm.
