I'd recommend MuLabs, myself, it's what I use and very easy.

Camcorder-wise, you may be surprised by how good your phone is for that job.

Not exactly what you asked for, but in case it's useful my sister retrained as a music therapist a few years ago and is always keen to talk about the subject and her experiences. Contact details at http://www.soundconnection.org.uk/3.html

She works full time for a county council as a therapist and also runs a research project: http://www.musical-research.org.uk/students_work.html

Mics are tricky and a lot depends on what you're recording. If you want an OK recording of something in the middle of your tessitura, your average Shure £50 job (or something you can borrow off your brother, mejoff or me) should be fine. If you're wanting to record full on soprano stuff, normal mics are sadly not built for the likes of us and will feed back or clip at anything above Eb5.

If you don't have even a £10 mic at the moment and want to borrow one for tests, I have a headset I basically never use. If not, ignore me! Though we should meet up some time.

(Also if nobody else can help re videos, my digital camera takes pretty good ones, though with pretty hefty file sizes.)

For some reason i have an ancient camcorder (about 12 years old) on top of my wardrobe. I think my brother left it with me at some time in ancient history and forgot about it. if it is any use you are welcome to have it.
