How come this machine won't do "remember me" in LJ?
Since I first noticed this, it's had windows XP replaced with windows 7 and a whole new install. It has got the same browser profile, admittedly, as before. But I deleted the cookie before, so it could reset it, and it made no difference. Unless, I suppose, there's ANOTHER cookie.

It does on one machine... I'll have to search for cookies and remove them...
on the networking front: the laptop does what you said yours did: powers up and joins the network seamlessly. I've stopped this machine (my one, upstairs) from being fixed-IP (it doesn't need to be) and we'll see if DHCP makes it work.
