Assuming the newly-acquired monster (well, A3) printer works as it should, I shall have a spare printer around shortly. It's a HP Business Inkjet 1100D, A4, separate ink tanks, in good nick but several years old. Is it OK with the standard XP? I might be interested, because the all-singing all-dancing one we've got seems to have a bone in its leg.

yeah, they still issued updates up til XP. XP x64 was a bit of a non-starter, so many things aren't supported. However I don't think they did proper drivers for vista.

In that case I might well be very interested. I've liked all the HP printers I've had, and our current thing (an Epson Stylus, so it should have been OK) only seems to work during a full moon when there's a Y in the month.

well, it's up for grabs now, the monster Canon is up and running, thanks to the ultrasonic cleaner. (black printhead was cloggit).
