Put new tyres on it, noting in the process that the old set were 3 different makes and 2 different sizes.  Also did a very quick-and-crappy* spray-over of the top part of the near-side wing, which, although crappy, looks better than it used to.  This also highlights the fact that the paint is faded, in places quite badly - this will be an issue ( Read more... )

I imagine it'll handle rather better with a symmetrical tyre set than with odzers of various sizes. My Sierra has various makes on it, but they're all of the same size, and it's not nearly so critical of varying tyre types as a performance car would be.

Geoff's Minor MM had a similar brake light switch failure a few months ago, but after 58 years, it didn't owe him anything.

Are the replacement horns from a much older car? A good pair of horns from the '50s or thereabouts sounds much better IME than the sort of half-baked sneg that comes from modern ones.

no these are actual new ones, I had a look around for such as a pair of Lucas 7H or similar, but found very few on offer and life's too short to hunt around autojumbles.

these (if I go the link right) are what I got. Note that some netcop thing thinks that this is an "attack site", something about firefox that I've not seen before, had to disable reported attack site blocking in the security options to get it to go again. This on the basis that twice in the last 90 days someone reported it. Strikes me that for that amount of reportage, the malware could and probably did come from somewhere else. It wasnt identified as such last time I visited the site and moreover I didn;t have any problems after trawling all around their site playing horn sounds...

If the link isn't playing ball, then you need to click "electromagnetics" and then "TM80 Magnum". They make a nice noise.

Tried the site, and some odd popup did indeed pop up. I zapped the new FF tab. It does seem odd that FF label sites as such on the basis of two reports in 90 days, unless they actually do their own research and confirm the danger before labelling the site.
A similar warning (but not in quite the same style; it quoted the name of a trojan, which I didn't pause to record) came up when I was gwgling for details of digital (flash memory) voice recorders earlier today, so I promptly closed FF, and didn't go back to that site.

I'll have a look for more details on the FF attack site tagging feature some time tomorrow, if I get tuits.

It's fair enough if there is indeed a problem. I would hope that the netcop lot notify the site owner that they have a problem, but there's no guarantee of that. If of course the popup is some part of the site or a legit advert by the site owner, then it's annoying if it gets blocked.

I read the subject header with a soft 'c'... and wondered if you were doing embroidery.
