Been re-watching season 1 of Buffy.  Episode 11 has a girl in school who everyone ignores and eventually she becomes invisble... after the usual sort of mayhem they catch her and then the FBI show up, lead her away and right at the end we get a bit where they lead her to a class full of invisible children being taught about assassination and stuff

If you want to be invisible for a couple of hours, try visiting your local town centre in a wheelchair.

I don't really find that myself in my scooter, if you're referring to being ignored by sales staff, but I do get sick of people suddenly stopping dead in front of me, or trying to jump over my feet because they're in such a hurry! I need about four times as much awareness as I do driving the car.
