I make no apology that those who are friends on facebook will be seeing this twice.

A friend noted this article in the New Statesman blogspace, and more or less commented:

Surely by now the organisers of such events realise such things will happen?.. it's hardly new.. if organisers of such protests can't get their act together a bit and learn to cope with such tactics from the police, perhaps they should stand down and let someone more competent do the job.. it's all very well for the president of the NUS to say that it's only a small minority that cause trouble at such events, and it's most probably true, but the question remains "what are the leadership of the demonstration doing to actively police the demonstration themselves?"

If they sit back and say "it's nothing to do with us guv, that's the job of the police" they can hardly complain when the police step in..
