Here's the packing list some of you were asking for. It's geared towards me specifically and not most of you, so some things will unquestionably not apply. You'll see what I mean if and when you read it. Send me your lists - anshulkumar@yahoo.com - or post them up or leave comments with stuff I missed. I'll post a final list later if I add to this ( Read more... )

It's a Local Area Network cable. Technically, it's a category 5 RJ-45 Patch Cable. It's what you use to hook your computer and router and junk up to a cable modem or whatever for broadband internet, most likely. It looks like a standard RJ-11 phone line cable at first glance, but the connector is larger and the cable's a good deal thicker.

You'll be hooking your computer into the local area network on campus with it.

Crazy list, by the way. Staying local means that I can pack by FEEL.

An ethernet cord is the wire that will run from the wall to your computer to give you Internet. You might be able to get it wirelessly too, but I figure within the room itself it makes more sense to hook it up by wire since that's usually much faster.

They might give us ethernet cords.. not sure..

Looks like you're going to be very well prepared indeed... I think the only thing you forgot is the kitchen sink.

Thanks for the kurta! (spelling?) It's very swank and fits perfectly. I'll take a picture as soon as I find my goddamn camera.
