Notes: so....people wanted to see this and I was already at Sierra's booth so...yeah I ended up buying a copy.
Back during ST2 when I took a picture of all that I'd bought (which wasn't that much, since I wasn't into all Kurobasu *that* much yet), someone pinged me and said that they wanted to see this book. The only thing I had back then was the copybook of the first few pages, which...already didn't impress me, but well, there had to be a reason that people love this person on pixiv, so...
That turned out to be because of "Kimi no Tame ni Saku Hana", where yes, I did see that the author can draw spectacular color pics. But as persiii informed me, I think this is the first time that this girl has done an actual story doujinshi...
Yes, she can draw faces and bodies and there are few places where her brilliance comes through. For the most part, however, it really doesn't feel she can draw anything else other than that. There's an overabundance of faces and expressions when usually in manga there's focus on other things while characters are talking, like the status of the room, or where Aomine's getting the coffee, or how cute the mugs for the coffee are, or what Kise looks like from where Aomine's standing (so from an upward-->downward angle). There's none of that change here, I'm sad to say.
The story was also...disappointing, as I hate to say it. The flow is kind of rambling and I'm not really sure what kind of emotion it's trying to capture. Nostalgia? Or...that Aomine + Kise can have fun even after they've been enemies? I DON'T KNOW.
Maa, maa....for an amateur's first time, I guess it would probably look like this...
