Notes: I picked this up because I just really loved "Seirin Lovers", aaand...I'm glad I did. She does remarkably well for a completely new pairing...
Soooo...I didn't particularly like the way Itadaki Cat drew her first 2 Kurobasu books, which is why I held out on her so long. Then I saw Seirin Lovers and was like, "Hmm...well her art style is *different*, but it doesn't mean it won't appeal to me...let's take a look". And I really liked it; her characters were very IC (her sneaky Kiyoshi, flustered Hyuuga, understanding soul-mate-ish KagaKuro).
Aaaand then she came out with AoWaka and I was like, "UHHH...well not that I haven't THOUGHT about that pairing, but is this gonna fly?!" Surprised the hell out of me when the answer was, "Yeah, it does, and pretty well." Aomine is cool and lazy, sexy, aloof, yet caring in his own way. He's not stupid or insensitive to who what he's doing, he just goes and does what he wants anyway.
Wakamatsu...honestly I didn't pay that much attention to him in the series (he seemed like the obligatory? loudmouth critic of the main antagonist), but I really like him here. I don't know how to explain it...he also knows what exactly he's doing, but he's not so clear on why he's doing it, especially why he continues (well, other than the superficial reasons).
(It's okay, Wakamatsu...if Aomine ever leaves you, I'll eat your zombie bentos (‘∀’●)♡)
Either way...it feels like a really poignant slice-of-life in the lives of these two, young, fumbling-for-love HS boys~
