After considering the demand for resources, I don't think you can help being didactic. At this point in our history as a people, the efficient and responsible use of resources is more important than it ever was.

interesting read! galing ng authors ng articles, they ask smart questions. like, i didn't use to factor in the economic implications of producing that much corn. people (including me) too readily assume ethanol is better, treating it as a panacea, kahit hindi naman talaga.

since there's no way of meeting a 1:15 input/output ratio (what we're used to with fossil fuel) by substituting fossil fuel with ethanol, the very first thing we need to do is lower our expectations with alternative fuels, and lessen our dependence on non-current energy. (haven't watched 11th hour, but i think i get what you mean by "current energy".)

i have one question though. who ever decided corn was the best way to go? isn't there research on other biofuels that have higher input/output ratios? or kahit hindi biofuel.. molecular energy or quantum theories? hehe, it'd be nice to research on that. how could we multiply the energy currently received by solar panels

sorry super long comment. i need to get out of the house, haha. hangout naman!!

biofuels is ok lang, since this amplifies the fossil fuel that you import.

diba?

if the multiplier for biodiesel is 1:1.0-1.2 (mean yan), let's get the upper percentile multiplier w/c 1.2

so if you have needs of about 1000 liters of oil, you'll only need to import 833.33 liters of oil if you turn your economy into a biofuel economy (w/c means that you have the means to produce biofuel and all of your mechanical/technological capital use biofuel instead of fossil fuel).

you save up on about 160 liters of oil in this situation. and also, with the 160 liters you saved, you are able to reduce your carbon dioxide emission, in addition to the carbon dioxide removed by the plants grown to make biofuels.

medyo inefficient pa ang biofuels industry now, pero if you look at brazil's biofuel industry, makikita natin na it can be made more efficient if put enough capital on the research of these fuels.

anyways yun..

oo nga allan. labas naman tayo. txt moko, may load ako!! ^_^

yeah gets, pero 1.2 is small if you've been running on an economy that's used to 15. i say, wait for the brazilians to improve the technology then steal it! hahahhaa. 'til improvement, dapat cut down consumption to a level na 1.2 is ok lang.

friday baka pwede! punta akong quezon city sa morning eh. until what time classes mo nun?
