I'll give you that one hands down. But then, tell me how one starts a war properly? I'd like to think that the only way to really start a war properly is in defense, like Pearl Harbor. But do you really want another Pearl Harbor?

It's not so much the protesters that get to me- it's the ones who say "I hope the US gets what it deserves" that take every ounce of strength for me not to shove my fist clear through their head. Despite what some of these people would have the general public believe, the US is not some huge Godzilla creature stomping on Iraqi houses and tanks. These are fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, relatives, friends- real people- men and women- if you could call them that- some of these platoons have an average age of nineteen- over there dodging bullets in the 120 degree burning heat.
And whether or not people like the military or other forms of law enforcement, I'd like to see how they do without them. How many other people would've had to die in post 9/11 attacks had immediate and severe military action not been taken?

I'd like to see how some of these people would fare if they had to defend themselves. If it was OUR country being held under the thumb of an oppressor, would they want another nation to stand up and say, "That's not right?" But sadly, one of our greatest freedoms, the freedom of speech, says that while I may not like what they have to say, they're free to say it. Still, I can't stand idly by and watch while others raise their voices against this war and then plug their ears when those of us who support the effort speak our share.

Define irony- thousands of people Statesside raising their voices against US policy and government, while simultaneously screaming for their constitutional rights.

Hahahaha... yeah. I've noticed that more and more recently. But the worst think I've heard, is people saying shit like, "Freedom is a really, really bad word." BITCH! Then take yours and get the hell out!
Yes, Saddam is a tyrannt. A genocidial tyrannt with no compassion for the people he rules. He desserves to be removed from power and tried for warcrimes.
You need more reason than that to justify this war? Just because this war falls after September 11th doesn't mean that it has to do with Bin Laden. Just because the UN and the rest of the world will stand idly by while dictators crush and quell their own people doesn't mean that we all will. Polpot killed his own people and we let him get away with it for FAR too long. No more.
Actually, there have been many attempts to suggest ties between September 11th and Saddam, to gain more support for the war. I think a lot of focus, at least in the media's spin, is that Saddam is a threat to us on our soil. He's far more of a threat to his own people

I'm not opposed to the war...granted I don't particularly like our current president, but hey, I wasn't old enough to vote yet...but I'm not opposed to the war itself. One of my co-workers has family over there, and he's so freaked out he can't really work so i've been covering most of his duties for him. I feel for him. As it is I have a bunch of friends and one ex over there. I just hope they all end up okay. :)
I hope so too. Wars come with the complete package and that includes casulties, which opposed to the war or not, still suck. My parent's neighbors are Iraqi-Americans and they seem to be on the edge of their seats all the time they tell me. I just hope it's over soon.
