You know what I find interesting? As soon as I convince myself that I need to write, random, acutely important tasks pop up. Seriously. I turn on my computer, open up Word Perfect, and suddenly, my entire closet must be cleaned out right this minute. (Which it does. No, really ( Read more... )

My experience with writing is that it comes what it's ready. Some people can force themselve to write and it's fine, but I find that when I write, it's like everything I write has already been written in my head and I just spew it out. I don't write fiction, but that's been my experience with poetry and kind of autobiographical ramblings.

But if you feel you're trying to avoid something, why don't you try writing about it? Then you'll feel better. /snarky

But really, I've heard that the creative process can be fueled by doing activities like seeing a show, going to a museum, cleaning out a closet. Get yourself stimulated by creative things, and maybe it will mix up some words in your brain. That you can actually write.

It's true, it's true. You can't force creativity, and you certainly can't force The Good Stuff. That comes from nowhere, at some inappropriate time, and knocks me in the face. But, unfortunately, that doesn't happen often enough.

Since leaving Barone, I've found it increasingly difficult to find inspiration.

But maybe, just maybe, the closet cleaning will inspire me! ;-)

I just miss writing. And feeling accomplished.

Totally clean out your closet. I often use mundane tasks as excuses to take time and plan out what I'm going to write about - setting the scene, starting to hear the dialogue, etc. I also listen to music and imagine the story like a movie.

But eh, I hear you. There is writing I should be doing, but instead omg I had to bring up all my summer clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, like life is basically fictional and we are teh characters. It is how we see the world and that's why I like you.

What was I going to say to you for real. Oh yeah. ICON LOVE. I have another incredible icon I plan on unveiling soon.

ICON LOVE!

Yes, it's true -- mundane tasks do get my mind going. I guess I just wish my brain didn't need a jump start all the time.

Summer clothes!!!! And, of course, I MUST clean the closet in order to buy more clothes and shoes!!!
