Reason for a giant celebration, kids:  I completed Jane Eyre!  At long last!  I'm rewarding myself with Me Talk Pretty One Day, which I've been meaning to read for ages and which I know will be a welcome relief from the incessant run-ons and clunky words of Victorian literature.  (cs_luis  and svenskaa, I expect a clamor of excitement from the two of you over ( Read more... )

Jane Eyre is like, almost next on my list.

David Sedars. You will want to read everything by him over and over, I promise.

"I'd feel so incredibly bad walking that thing around."

Do you mean bad in the Michael Jackson-sense because the dog is bigger than you and you're walking it and you're bad and you know it or bad as in the dog is bigger than you and you're walking it and that's not fair to the dog and you're guilty? Please clarify.

Great dog, btw. If I ever got a dog, it would stand like 4 feet high.

Jane Eyre is most definitely worth the read. It's very, very, very good.

I'm excited for David!

Oh, and I mean bad in the Michael Jackson way. More clearly, I'd feel badass walking that thing around. I want one that weighs like, 150 lbs. The biggest dog, ever.

My paid lj account expired, btw. Debating whether to renew.

Hey, most people prefer JE to WH, so we'll have to see (though I can't imagine anything surpassing WH, really, it's such a unique book).

I figured you meant Michael Jackson-bad.

Mine expires at the end of the month. Eh.

Shyeah, well, as good as it is, JE is no WH. Nope. I mean, Mr. Rochester is completely swoon-worthy, but I just...can't. WH has my heart. I think it will have yours, too.

...Yeah, I've never read Jane Eyre either, but Maggie just read it and loved it - she actually loved it much more than she tolerated WH.

WH = pretty much the best book ever that doesn't feature Snape.

What classes are you taking this fall?

I'm planning on taking The Literature of Social Protest and Blogging On, both of which sound so interesting to me.
