[storyline] Things that go Bump in the Night.
[[Posting this a few days early to coincide with what Shelbi had written for Matt. Just read and make sure you're aware of what will be happening starting Sunday :3]]
There is an important spot in the universe. A spot where, in a space of time smaller than the mind can comprehend, everything started. This spot became the birthplace of the Time Keepers. And from their birth came everything else. Most think that this spot is a lost point someplace in an uncharted part of the great expanse of this universe. The truth is many are living on it.
The City is the oldest place in the known universe. Because of its place in history and the whole story of its origin, it is probably the most magical as well. Over the countless thousands of years that it has been in existence, it has been growing. Not in any way one would notice because it is not a physical expansion but more of an expansion of power. And this power is what draws all creatures to it like a moth to a flame. But it does something else as well.
Whenever a great deal of power is unleashed in the City, it starts to absorb it. It absorbs until the source of said power is burned out. And then it stores it. Sometimes for hundreds of years, sometimes a day. But the ancient magic rooted deep within the earth’s core and in the soil of the City acts as a battery. And when that power has been stored and then released once again, it can last for a long time.
When the god Skia, known to most as Matt, unleashed his terrible power and launched the City into a three day solid black out, the City absorbed the power. After the first day that Matt’s power seemed to vanish, there was nothing. The world seemed to carry on, the sun rose and the sun set. But that, as it turned out, would not last for long. Nothing ever does in the City.
[[SO. Starting today (Friday, July 30th) the darkness that surrounded the City is gone. Around noon everything brightens and the sun comes out and all is happy and blah blah blah (I’m just so awesome at telling stories). On Sunday (August 1st) the sun won’t rise. For the month of August it will be night. But it won’t be black like it was. During the day the sun won’t rise, instead the sky will be like dusk, a blueish grey sky like the sun just set even though it was never there. And night will be normal. Have fun.
