So I'm starting to look into acquiring a new vehicle to replace the Jeep as a primary-use vehicle. Not ditching the Jeep, since it's all paid off and the work it needs is kind of fun, from a hobby/educational standpoint, and it provides me a good hauling/sick dog vehicle/poor winter weather vehicle ( Read more... )

I'm looking strongly into a new model Subaru WRX (not the STI), the 2009s don't look goofy anymore. You can get them well equiped for around $30k. Subaru reliability has always been top notch.

That is true. My mother's been happy with her Foresters. Is that the Impreza WRX you're looking at?

Yep, Impreza WRX. I'd rather have the sedan than the hatchback (which is why I hate the new STI, since it's only a hatchback).

With that allowance, your options are rather vast for what car you desire, however, saving money is still a good thing to keep an eye on. Buying a vehicle with a few thousand miles on it may save you from the harsh depreciation than buying a new vehicle outright. Your mileage may vary ( ... )

Re Convertibles: Yah, really the only convertibles on my list are the Sebring Convertible and the Toyota Solara Convertible, since those are really the only full-size ones out there in this price bracket.
