What fresh hell?!?!? Charles Lockwood of University College London is going to call me "for a discussion". I would so much rather be rejected flat-out than have a phone interview and then be rejected. I am not at my best on the phone. Or in person, for that matter. If I had any idea how much of a strain on my nerves applying for graduate school ( Read more... )

oh geez, im so sorry it didn't go well. When will you find out? How many of those internships did you apply for? This guys hasn't called me yet. He's supposedly going to e-mail before he calls.

The bad thing is that this guy is one of those professors who don't put much about their research on the department website. It only has a list of his publications and a list of general interests, so I have to get what I can out of those.

The only reason I applied there was because the application didn't cost anything. I can't afford to go there. Especially with the dollar as shitty as it is and our currency being 1:1 with Canada's for heaven's sake. International tuition is is like 14,000 pounds a year and its too late to apply for scholarships.

Pretty much all of the programs I applied to offer some sort of financial package. The reason I didn't apply to U of Michigan is because they're so arrogant they dont offer any money to anybody. The best schools I think are Tulane and Wash U because they offer full tuition and a stipend. Tulane's stipend is 17,000. UCL's issue is that since I'm not a citizen of either the UK or the EU, so I don't quality for any of the university's financial packages. The department does offer packages to students, but I haven't been able to find very much out about them and I think you have to compete for them. Oh, and for UCL, I'm applying for their "MSc" program, but for Tulane and WashU they are PhD. It's pretty much a mix for all of the other schools ( ... )
