okay...Romania next summer. Either an archaeological dig in Romania for the summer or a tour group of Greece in the fall (this is the important part: a stop in Santorini, aka THERA!!!!!!!), including a side trip to Istanbul. Watch out for gypsies!! I knew this Romanian lady when i worked at the bridal shop and she said Romania is full of them. You're so lucky you can afford to do cool stuff like field studies & travelling in general. I wanna go somewhere dammit. *le sigh*

it's always on credit and then i have to pay it off later. I'm going to have to work forever to pay the Africa trip off, but i want to travel as much as possible before i have grownup commitments.

Yep! take advantage of it as long as you possibly can. I rushed through school and my parent's wouldn't let me study abroad (or even in another state)and regret it now.
Hey, were you still thinking of going to that Anthropology Conference in Chicago? I'm saving money for a trip to...anywhere and would be totally down to go along.

Please go!!!!! I am planning on going whether they give volunteers free registration or not (I have not found out yet whether they do, or what the fee is if they don't, but I'm sure it will be an arm and a leg), but I think they do. I talked to my professor about it and she told me to email the Local Arrangements Chair and ask about it. I did, but have not gotten a reply yet. His name is Dr. Schurr at University of Pennsylvania and here's his email ( ... )
