it was wrong, the whole time, i've been making the most idiotic mistake and couldn't figure out why it was all wrong and now i have to go back and change all of them since it finally dawned on me that i was using the wrong column of the standard normal curve chart. i hate this crap.

the part i figured out was, unfortunately, only a minor part of the whole problem and didn't really effect the overall wrongness. but I make progress. i make progress.
