To see or not to see

It is the age old question that scholars and school.

-->Would you rather be deaf or blind?Everybody would expect me being the musician I am to choose to be blind. Even I would expect me too. However I believe that a life of being deaf would be extremely difficult to operate by yourself. Not being able to get around, see where you're going. ( Read more... )

i don't know!!! being blind equals--not really being able to watch movies, never seeing the reaction on someone's face, not being allowed to drive, and not being able to see what you're eating...however, you would get to take your dog shopping with you...and not just to petsmart. being deaf equals--text messaging a lot, never hearing music or anyone's voice, but still being allowed to drive...and sign language kinda rocks.

both would suck though.

This guy came into the store yesterday with a broken voice box. He could hear perfectly just fine; but for some reason I felt it natual to think that he was deaf because he couldn't speak. I did like motions while I was talking.

Of course not. That would be stupid - Deaf people can't hear at all.

......

yeah - however apparently guy with good hearing needs my hand motions to tell him what I mean.

i'd rather be blind. i've always had an odd fascination with blindness. i hate driving anyway, and i love music with a passion. true, reading would become difficult, but (a) i could learn braille and (b) i could get people to read stuff to me. besides, blindness is an escape from the "image-doting rabble"...

If you were blind I'd be alot more attractive.

i don't know..but oh my goodness, what is that catbread thing? it's way too cute.

i try to decide this sometimes but i never can. i think it would be easier to be deaf..you can still do most things for yourself, you can see all the beautiful things around you and the faces of the people you love. but to not hear their voices and to not hear music? both ideas sound kind of suffocating..an eternal black void or eternal silence.

Its catbread!

Thats a good point to. What if a blind person ended up marrying an ugly chick. Thats not fair.

i read this book by a blind guy who climbed everest (among other mountains) and when he was younger he had a system with a friend so the friend could let him know how attractive women who were talking to him were..it was quite amusing. so there are ways around that.

Yeah, I'm sure blind/deaf people can manage. But I am unfamiliar to many of the ways.
