. Thanx for linking to that. I think for me the question becomes "where to now?". Being the old commie I am, I'm thinking a coop of some kind would be the best solution, but that would take some major organization. I wonder if it's possible.
For me, there is no real replacement right now. When Tribe.net when all rabid Republican, lots of folks threatened to leave, and some tried to set up an alternative...but it was clunky.
When LJ was bought a bunch of folks looked at insanejournal and I think deadjournal or something like that...but without critical mass for communities, why bother? I've started blogging for trannywood on blogspot and myspace, but I like communities (and myspace ones are deadends).
So, I'm staying as long as possible.
I wish these folks would learn from AOL, Yahoo, excite, friendster and tribe....alienate the core groups or the trendy fringe folk (that's us) and soon you have nothing unique.
Well the good news is that the internet is like a flowing river. People are constantly moving around to the next trendy place. I can remember a time when everyone was on Usenet. Then everyone migrated to yahoogroups and other web based forums. Something else will come up when it offers something better to users. It's not a question of if, but when.
. You're right of course, but for once I'd like to be able keep something when I finally get it working for me, instead of learning things from ground up all over again. I'm glad I'm not the only one here who remembers Usenet.
