“Hello! Kaidou residence.” Hozumi Kaidou answered as she balanced a wet dish in one hand and the phone in the other.
“Kaasan. It’s Kaoru.” Came the gruff reply on the other end.
“Hi, sweetie, how’s training?” she asked, drying the dish and placing it on the rack. Her son let out a low, unsteady hiss before answering her.
“Fine.”
“Is Inui-san with you?”
Another hiss. “. . . yes.”
“Well, that’s good. You should invite him over for dinner sometime, Kaoru. He’s such a nice boy and takes real good care of you.” Hozumi rambled on, abandoning her clean sink to inspect the food on the stove.
“I called to tell you I won’t be making it for dinner.” Kaoru answered abruptly, interrupting her before she could go further.
“Are you okay? You sound out of breath.” She asked. Her son was probably still training while he called; he was always training. Even still, a mom was entitled to worry.
“I’m fine, Kaasan. Uh, having dinner with Inui-sempai.”
“Staying over?”
“No! I mean, I’ll be home late.”
“Okay, but if it gets too late, I’d rather you just stay over there instead of trying to run home.”
“Okay.”
“I’ll save you some leftovers. Bye.”
“ Bye.”

Inui was evil, sadistic or both. Kaoru Kaidou could not tell, however, he could assume that his sempai was taking delight on distracting him while he called home. As he stood slightly hovered over Inui’s deskphone, Kaidou could feel Inui standing behind him. It was annoying.
“Hello! Kaidou residence.” His mother’s pleasant voice filtered through the other line. He could hear the kitchen sink running and various kitchen sounds.
“Kaa-san. It’s Kaoru.” Kaidou said.
“Hi, sweetie, how’s training?” she asked, though Kaidou barely registered her words. Inui was standing closer now, and his hands were now resting on Kaidou’s hips. Kaidou hissed in warning, but he found himself leaning to rest his back against Inui’s chest. That bastard.
“Fine.” He answered his mother.
“Is Inui-san with you?” Hozumi asked. Either his mom was oblivious or in on the conspiracy to kill him.
“. . . yes.” He managed.
“Well, that’s good. You should invite him over for dinner sometime, Kaoru. He’s such a nice boy and takes real good care of you.” His mother was rambling again and Inui was content with kissing Kaidou’s shoulder and neck. He inhaled quickly as one of Inui’s hands was slowly making their way underneath his shirt.
“I called to tell you I won’t be making it for dinner.” Kaidou answered as he expelled the air held in his lungs, snapping his head around to glare at his lover. Inui just grinned and pulled Kaidou closer.
“Are you okay? You sound out of breath.”
“I’m fine, Kaasan. Uh, having dinner with Inui-sempai.” He managed to say, though
“Staying over?”
“No!” Kaidou gasped, an embarrassed flush rising to his cheeks. “I mean, I’ll be home late.”
“Okay, but if it gets too late, I’d rather you just stay over there instead of trying to run home.” His mom suggested, just at the same moment Inui was whispering to him the benefits of staying the night.
“Okay.” He answered them both. Forget thinking.
“I’ll save you some leftovers. Bye.”
“ Bye.” Kaidou asked, not quite catching his mother’s last comment as he hung up the phone and pushed Inui to the bed.
