The lambs oh-so-generously appeared, ripe for the slaughter, no doubt to encourage us to believe that we must follow through, by the book. But that could be as obvious a trap as Xanadu's thus far serenity; or neither could lead to anything at all.
In the end, it's all pointless conjecture. And that may be the worst of it
