I meant it about Dan, but as a joking reference to The Great Gatsby. Cause Tom buys Myrtle (his mistress, if you haven't read the book) pretty dresses and puppies from street vendors.

ah, it's been so long since I read that I barely remember what it was about. I just keep thinking that it was sad...and that the movie version (that we had to watch in class after we finished the book) kinda dragged but had good costumes. :)

Which version of the movie was it? We watched some of the 70's version in high school. When Myrtle got run over, the whole class gasped, all open-mouthed, but my friend Tom and I started laughing because it was really fake looking. We got some dirty looks at that.
