Just out of curiosity, what is her major at this agricultural school?
I'm assuming she's focusing more on plant based agriculture rather than animal/livestock?

Weird.

She is a Zoo Science major I believe, which is a major that trains you to be a zoo keeper really. It is a part of a department I don't really like since most of the people there are not really into working with animals, all they want to do is play with animals. Another portion is in a major called Small Animal Science which is a major designed to prepare you for doing experiments on lab animals and how to take care of those animals, and I can tell you that most of them don't want to do that. The whole Animal Biotechnology and Conservation department at my school is all kinds of whack. Usually not from the teachers (one of my favorite professors is head of the department and he tries to bring reality to these people but is usually doesn't work) but from the students ( ... )

Go you!
I basically said the same things (except working for the USDA) to this one girl comparing slaughter houses to the Holocaust. Shit like that always pisses me off.

I will say, having that experience to back up my statements has added that extra punch and usually gets most of them.

That is weird that she is going to an agriculture school. WTF did she think, the animals on the campus weren't going to be raised for slaughter?

She could try but most of them are hardcore farmers who get really pissed off at moral vegetarians and vegans. I have a couple of friends that are farmers who raise both beef cattle and dairy cattle and I ask them if they love and take good care of their animals. They said yes, backing it up saying that happy cows produce better then I ask them how they feel when the animal rights activists say they don't love their animals, most of them respond with that they can go to hell and they have no idea what they are talking about.

I blame most of this on people's disconnect with our food. We aren't as close to our food anymore so it contributes to the rise when people find out "what is really going on". It is a shame really.

Nope it grows in the grocery store. Something these people don't realize is that the farmers that grow their vegetables also grow and eat their livestock. So yes they are still supporting animal slaughter.
