No Feelings For Anybody Else

Warning: this post is about to get rant-tacular.

People and things are pissing me off lately. This is not unusual, as I am rather stressed and often prone to misanthropy, but I'm fairly seething at people trying to shove this ideas down my throat.

First of all, shut up about Nirvana! I must be part of some misguided minority that feels absolutely ( Read more... )

I don't think it's possible to say conclusively who is the best and/or truest. It all depends on personal taste and how one feels about the Bond of the novels- if you can appreciate the inter-persona of Fleming (and accompanying flaws and charm) in the novel Bond, then I think one can objectively look at all of the film interpretations of the character and see the merits and mistakes of all.

When it comes down to it, the Bond I think of visually is actually Pierce Brosnan, though I favour the acting approach taken by Timothy Dalton. I still have favourite movies for each actor, in spite of this. The point of there being so many Bonds is that the producers can continue to make money off the franchise when one (inevitably) gets disillusioned and another is called on step in. This means there's got to be a Bond and an interpretation (usually dependent on the zeitgeist) to suit everybody.

I find it sad sometimes how much thought I give to this particular fictional character.

You would like Richard Dean Anderson, not just for the Stargate but for the fact that he managed to do stupid shit like constructing rapelling gear from shoe laces and paperclips with a serious face.

Well, I don't think killing yourself (and prompting many many other suicides that follow your lead) makes you worthy of being a hero. I honestly don't hear that much about him these days.

Oh, the 90s. How dirty. BUT, the X-Files came out of the 90s and it's about the only thing I like from that craptastic decade (I hate the 80s too though. I seem to hate the decades I lived in. Perhaps they all just fucking sucked and I wasn't alive to experience the ones before the 80s). *goes back to x-philing and obsessing about the MSR*

Sean Connery, I have no opinion of him. Nor has he even entered my mind probably in the last year or more. But I did like that camelot movie he was in.

And the point of your post -- having your own opinions and having a right to have them. Yes, much agreed. To independent thought!

Part of me wishes I was alive and conscious when 'Never Gonna Give You Up' was big because I am one of the sad minority that genuinely enjoy the song, despite the red hair and 80's grooving.

I think the 80s would have been your decade, really.

I don't think there is a decade for me yet. But I do love some of the clothes back in the Edwardian era, and the era that would be Narnia-esque (those dresses they wear, oh, I love them!) But those decades come with lots of other crap I don't like and no computers or internet.

It's interesting you say that, as I always associate more with the 60's and 70's and I definitely admire 70's style. Most of the stuff I buy is either 60's or 70's, not that you are able to look into my wardrobe, but I really try for a timeless, vintage-inspired look, really.
