A Song For Europe

With the best bit of Eurovision on the horizon (hooray!), here's my thoughts on what I've seen on YouTube:

oh noez!

I am actually thinking about not watching any ESC at all this year. Also you cannot be serious about liking the Danish song this year - it is just horrid! And the guy that sings is really a man whore (or man bitch) and marshmallow.

I won't and can't really comment on the rest but it does sounds like some countries really just likes to go and do the same thing they did last year ... and I will be eagerly awaiting your hopefully continued coverage of the ESC

Well, I'll admit that I inevitably end up disillusioned as soon as voting start. And while Simmon Matthew wasn't brilliant, he was much better than anything out of Eastern Europe and that won him automatic favour from me (plus the whole Danish thing).

In any case, you have to at least watch a video of Sebastien Tellier's 'Divine' to have experienced the frustration at the only decent acts end up excluded by former USSR countries that we all end up with after watching the ESC. That's what being in possession of a brain during Eurovision season's all about, right?

I'm surprised you don't know what this is, considering Celine Dion won it in the 80's.

Yuck. I don't like Celine Dion, especially after her little comment about how she is Quebecois first and Canadian second. And also, how can she compete for Switzerland when she is not Swiss?

Wow, I didn't know Eurovision was so old. I thought maybe it was some new thing.

I'm not sure what the specific rule is, but maybe she has Swiss family. I know that the year ABBA won, Olivia Newton John was England's entry and that she was born there (if memory serves).
