This made me laugh. In a loving friend kind of way. I'm glad you're venting(?) about this.
Also, lipstick vegetarian ? I'm not gonna lie, I considered this route after being fed up with explaining why I don't eat meat not slaughtered according to Islamic law, etc.
On the other hand, my morbid fear/disgust of birds has made me think about going vege-beef-lamb-atarian. Also the fact that I don't want to eat meat after a human anatomy session has made me consider making the change permanent.
It's fleeting though- I can't live without my beef. Sam Neil would be proud.
I always wondered how hard it would be for Muslims to find halal foods in less multi-cultural areas like the major cities in Queensland. I think most butchers in my wider area- which takes in a number of 'immigrant suburbs'- do halal now. They'd be stupid not to, really.
I have a thing with birds too- I don't like their beady little eyes and their scaley feet.
Mostly, I don't like to eat that much meat- for one thing, I have oil absorption problems and red meat makes me sick in most cases (not processed McDonalds type stuff though, oddly) and I enjoy bread and some fruit a lot more.
I was reading the blog of a gourmet raw food cook yesterday and she eats mostly nuts and fruits and plant by-products in fanciful concoctions and I knew that as nice as her raw, dehydrated vege pizzas looked, I prefer the usual wheat, meat and cheese kind. Her cakes looked nice too, though, and I might give some of those recipes a go.
The halal food situation in QLD is pretty good so far. Also, halal meat is served at Bond ( one of the many perks of having oil rich Arab as unofficial university sponsors)
Perhaps my pizza-taste need serious cultivating, but I prefer your standard of the mill Pizza Hut over gourmet any day.
I remember the fantastic salads in that shop near the chinese one! I miss them heaps.
I'm lucky as i don't have any vego or vegan friends as part of my healthy eating means i have to have fish/chicken or beef every day.. they wouldn't like me!
Thats the beauty of being in the city.. unlimited food choices
You know, I still haven't made it past the first line of this post, despite you telling us vegetarians not to get huffy puffy yet in the first line. lol
